I. Topic Reviews

a. UpToDate
A collection of over 3,000 topic reviews and over 1,000 drug monographs designed to be reviewed at "point of care" in a clinical environment to facilitate the decision process by health care professionals. (Access Restrictions: UpToDate is licensed for on-site use only at Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Medical School, and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Remote access is not permitted.)

b. eMedicine
A collection of over 7,000 topic reviews on diseases and disorders written by experts. The evidence-based content provides current practice guidelines in 62 medical specialties.

c. National Cancer Institute
This federally sponsored web site provides treatment, screening, supportive care, and genetic summaries for a variety of oncology-based diseases.

d. MDConsult
Provides access to textbooks, journal literature, patient handouts, drug information, recent news releases, and practice guidelines.

II. Latest News

a. MDLinx
This resource provides daily medical news through email to physicians and other healthcare professionals for 33 specialties, including oncology and its subspecialties.

b. American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
This is the world's leading professional organization representing physicians who treat people with cancer. The ASCO site offers educational resources for cancer physicians including scientific meetings, educational conferences, professional workshops, and special symposia on issues of particular relevance and importance to clinical oncologists and researchers.

c. PubMed - My NCBI
This resource is an auto alert service for PubMed.

III. Journal Articles

a. Ovid
This search interface provides access to MEDLINE, CINAHL (a nursing database), BIOSIS (a biomedical science research database), evidence-based medicine databases, as well as the full text of selected journals.

 

b. PubMed
The National Library of Medicine's search interface for MEDLINE.

c. Web of Science
These databases provide access to interdisciplinary science and psychosocial issues. The search interface can retrieve papers which have cited a previously published paper.

IV. Clinical Trials

a. CenterWatch
A listing of more than 41,000 active industry- and government-sponsored clinical trials, as well as new drug therapies in research and those recently approved by the FDA.

b. Physicians Data Query
A database, produced by the National Cancer Institute, which provides access to government-sponsored oncology-related clinical trials.

c. ClinicalTrials.gov
A database of clinical studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, other Federal agencies, and the pharmaceutical industry in over 80,000 locations worldwide.

V. Practice Guidelines

a. National Guideline Clearinghouse
This site is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents. This site is produced by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, in partnership with the American Medical Association and the American Association of Health Plans.

b. National Cancer Institute
A federally-funded agency providing direction and support in cancer research.

c. National Comprehensive Cancer Network
A cooperative effort among patients, health care professionals, and payer/providers to develop affordable cancer-related health care.

a. Clinical Pharmacology Online (CPO)
This resource provides access to regularly updated drug monographs including nutritional supplements, drug interactions including lifestyle factors, and photos for drug identification. CPO also provides dosing information for adult, geriatric, and pediatric populations.

b. EPERC - End of Life/Palliative Education Resource Center
This is a broad-based educational initiative aimed at health professionals. It includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor objectives relevant to teaching appropriate care methodology on topics related to end of life care. c. Cancer Control Planet
