East Asian Room

East Asian Room photoThe East Asian Room at the Mezzanine level of Baker Berry is the home for the collections of Chinese, Japanese and Korean language materials. A framed calligraphy by Mr. Qin Yonglong, calligrapher and retired professor from Beijing Normal University in China, is hanging on the red wall. The western end is the area for oversized titles and is rich in works on Chinese antiquity including oracle bone inscriptions, bronzes and excavated texts written on bamboo and silk. The Japanese collection has a browsing Manga section half a flight down from the East Asian room, which also houses the relatively new Korean collection. The room is lined with tables, desks, chairs and sofas to provide study spaces.
