Lora L. Coble
Director of Management Services
As Director of Management Services, Lora Coble is the human resources, communications, fiscal/budget, and facilities/security officer for the Library's 9 physical locations and approximately 170 staff and 225 student employees. She assumed this position in October 2007, following her role as the Biomedical Libraries' Associate Director for Education and Information Services at Dartmouth beginning in 2005.
Lora's early professional experience was in accounting and financial services. She transitioned careers in 2000, becoming a librarian with the intention of eventually combining the two careers. Lora served as the Director of Library Services, and a member of the management team, at Easton Hospital (Pennsylvania), a teaching hospital, before coming to Dartmouth. While a medical librarian, Lora was very active in the Leadership and Management Section of the Medical Library Association (MLA), in particular chairing a two-year taskforce on professional development for current and aspiring middle managers. She also co-chaired the 2008 MLA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Lora holds an AS and BS in Accounting from Champlain College, and an MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. In 2012 she attended the Harvard University program Inner Strengths of Successful Leaders and in 2007 participated in the ACRL/Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians.
Handles scheduling requests for the Dean of Libraries
Fields booking requests for Baker-Berry conference rooms, instructional centers, and event spaces.
Provides Library donor relations, processes new gifts, and maintains donor files.
Liaison to the Provost’s Finance Center for payroll, travel and expense reimbursement procedures, and supply and purchase card management.
Oversees the student employment budget and is the liaison to Library student supervisors.
Staff support including recruitment, new hire, and library professional promotion process management.
Addresses security concerns including sensors and armed doors, card access, and key requests for the Baker-Berry, Carson, Carpenter complex.
Coordinates with Campus Planning & Facilities and outside vendors for large and small scale improvement and renovation projects.
Coordinates custodial and repair requests.
Interim Associate Librarian for Information Services
Barb Sagraves is the Interim Associate Librarian for Information Services at Dartmouth College Library and leads a leads a division that supports Dartmouth and broader scholarly communities through the identification, provision, organization, and management of information. The Information Services division includes the Library's collections and digital information programs, Access and Delivery Services, Acquisitions Services and Collection Assessment, Cataloging and Metadata Services, Preservation Services, and Scholarly Communications and Digital Publishing.
Prior to accepting the interim appointment Barb lead the Preservation Services department which she established in 1995 she has managed the Book Arts Workshop since 2000. In her twenty-one years here, she has built a nationally respected preservation program that regularly hosts interns and guest specialists, as well as embedding book arts into the curriculum. Before coming to Dartmouth, Barb led the preservation assessment office at Northwestern and taught preservation and conservation courses in the library and information science program at Rosary College.
Barb holds a BA in history from the University of Oklahoma, an MA in Medieval History from Michigan State University, and an MLS from the University of Michigan.
Jennifer Taxman is the Interim Dean of Libraries and Librarian of the College in addition to her role as Associate Librarian for User Engagement and Technologies at the Dartmouth College Library. Her division supports Dartmouth and broader communities through coordinated user engagement programs and services, and the underlying library technologies, focused on research, teaching, learning, and outreach. User Engagement and Technologies consists of the Digital Library Technologies Group, Education & Outreach, Jones Media Center, Records Management, Research & Instruction Services, and the Feldberg, Kresge, Paddock, and Rauner Libraries.
Jennifer's previous library positions include Head of Access Services at Dartmouth College, 2002-2012; Head of Public Services at Skidmore College, 1996-2000; and Reference & Database Services Librarian at Kenyon College, 1992-1996.
Jennifer holds a BA in Medieval Studies from Purdue University and received her MLS from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. She is a 2016 UCLA Senior Fellow; an ARL Research Library Leadership Fellow, 2011-2012; a graduate of the HERS Wellesley Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration, 2005-2006; and a graduate of the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians - Harvard Graduate School of Education, 2004.
