Ordering Information for Bibliographers

This is an overview of specific types of orders. If you want more indepth information or training please contact Judy Maynes (6-2574) or your Acquisitions ordering liaison .

Print monographs from US, UK and Canada (excepting rush and out of print material and some multi-volume titles) published within the last 2 years.

These should can be directly ordered through Coutts by you.

See further guidelines for more information. (to be written)

OASIS login for Version 3

OASIS login for Beta Version 4 (live data) (has ability to see what discount we will get)

Once you have selected they are ratified by your liaison in Acquisitions and added to the catalog as on order titles.

Non-Print materials and Print Monographs from outside US, UK and Canada

E-mail your liaison Liaison List for ordering. If it is a more obscure title and you have a web site please include it. We may not order from that site as we have vendors that we work with but the information can be useful.

Ebooks are currently handled by Becky Torrey so either email  her or Library.Acquisitions@dartmouth.edu as we are still finishing guidelines for platforms

Rush Ordering for Monographs

Do NOT use Coutts. Email to Library.Acquisitions@dartmouth.edu or use Monograph Order Form .

Please remember that rushes usually cost more for shipping and handling and that cost is also charged to your fund.

Rushes should be restricted for titles needed for a class or a patron in desparate need. Borrow Direct may get the item here quicker if a patron needs it for a short time.

Rushes are ordered the day the order is received or the next business day depending on how late you send us the order.

Acquisitions has a team to order rushes so please do not send to an individual liaison as that might delay ordering if the liaison is unavailable.

Once processed in Acquisitions they are sent to Cataloging and Metadata to be catalogued see: Cataloging and Metadata Rush Procedures . Materials are usually available 48 hours after the request is received; some special materials may take longer. If special circumstances require a shorter processing time, please contact Library.In.Process.Requests@Dartmouth.EDU directly for assistance.

Cataloging anad Metadata also has Priority processing: for cataloging in-process materials when no specific patron is waiting but the bibliographer feels that processing should be expedite.

Replacement Ordering

Do NOT use Coutts as it may tag these titles as duplicates. See Replacement Ordering for more information.

Out of Print Ordering

Barbara Sterling (tel: 6-3317) is in charge of searching for and ordering out-of-print titles. Please contact her directly to place orders. Email requests are preferred. See: Out of Print Ordering for more information.
