This conference brings together colleagues from selected Russian and American medical universities and libraries to exchange information and explore possibilities for establishing an Internet-based consortium of medical libraries. The purpose will be to give consortium members access to full text biomedical literature published in both English and Russian. The conference is funded by a grant from the National Library of Medicine, Washington, DC.

Conference Objectives:

• To determine the feasibility of forming a medical information partnership.
• To identify the needs of the participating institutions in medical information management and in relevant institutional administration and financing.
• To determine which of these needs can be met by sharing our existing resources and which will require additional resources.
• To develop plans for financial support of a partnership.
