Digital Resources Program

The Digital Resources Program at Dartmouth College provides leadership for the management, development and assessment of licensed digital resources, promotion of awareness and understanding of scholarly communications issues, and education, outreach and marketing for the Dartmouth community regarding digital collections. The Digital Resources Program Director is Barbara DeFelice.

The Program Director reports to the Associate Librarian for Information Resources and works with staff in all areas of the library, particularly the Acquisitions Department, the subject specialists/bibliographers, and the Education and Outreach Program.

Current projects include:

• Coordinate evaluation of digital resources for addition to the collection
• Optimization of digital resource performance
• Sessions for library staff on new developments in ebooks and other digital resource trends
• Education, support and promotion of the Dartmouth Author's Amendment and other alternatives to restrictive publishing contracts; sessions for library staff, faculty and students
• Education, support and promotion of the concepts of Fair Use and other rights to use materials in the educational setting; sessions for library staff, faculty and students
• Assessment of current digital resources using new tools such as ScholarlyStats and JUR; educational sessions for library staff regarding these tools
• Coordination of digital collection development, such as e-only decisions and cooperative purchasing and licensing arrangements
• Organize EResources Fair and other education, outreach and marketing programs for digital collections and resources
• Implementation of the WebFeat federated search service (locally called Search360)
• Contribute to the ERM (Electronic Resources Management module from Innovative) Implementation Project Team
