Fellowships
Leslie Center Fellowships for Faculty
Two annual fellowships of $5000 each will be offered to Dartmouth faculty in any division or in the professional schools by the Leslie Center. These fellowships will be awarded to full or part time faculty of any rank to seed distinguished research or creative projects with a significant humanities component. These should be projects, either in progress or contemplated, that are clearly consistent with the goals of the Center as articulated in its mission statement and/or directly related to current programs and activities of the Center. Preference may be given to projects that show evidence of interdisciplinary innovation, with a humanities component, across academic disciplines and divisions. Colleagues serving on the Leslie Center Advisory Committee will not be eligible for these awards, and preference may be given to faculty members who have not received funding from college sources during the past three years. The nature and area of research are not stipulated in advance, but applicants will be asked to indicate clearly both the significance and practicality of the projects for which they seek support, and to explain how their work will be advanced by an award. Awards could be applied to research travel or vital supplies, but will generally not be awarded for computer or other major hardware purchases. The Center will exercise full discretion regarding the appropriateness of requests for funding. The Leslie Center Advisory Committee will act as the selection committee for these awards. The Center reserves the right not to make awards if applications appear not to warrant them.
Applications for the academic year 2009-20010 are due November 1st, 2008 and be sent via email to Humanities.Center@Dartmouth.EDU. All awards for 2008-2009 must be utilized between June 30, 2009 and July 1, 20010. Funding not used during this period will revert to the Center budget.
