Memories

Zach Mason

It's Graduation Day, What's on your mind?

A movie by Zach Mason.
Wednesday  26 August 2009, 5.30pm Haldeman 041. Reception to follow in Russo Gallery.  Free and open to all.
Plot:
A senior who is waiting for the ceremonies to start thinks back to all the different memories from his Sophomore Summer and realizes that the beauty of everyday motion has changed his life.

Fun Facts:
The opening audio uses an actual recording of the Baker Bells at Dartmouth College.

The opening sequence is inspired by the 1965 Russ Meyer cult classic, Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!  and 1961 Val Guest film, The Day the Earth Caught Fire.

Look for the director’s brief cameo in the film.

The actual graduating class in the film is the Class of 2009. It is also the last graduation ceremony with President Wright, who can also be seen in the film.

The film combines an interesting visual mix of HD digital, regular digital, and 16mm film.

Format is a mix of widescreen and anamorphic.

Many of the people (actors) were told they were being filmed, the exact times (or lengths of shots) were often kept secret by the director.
This created a documentary-like feel for many scenes in the film.

The film uses eight audio tracks for the mix, which combines music and natural sounds (wind, water, etc.) with other music including two tracks from a VT group who play “Kitchen Tunks and Parlor Sounds.”
