James K. Nelson, Ph.D.
Jim received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 2005,
and has been in the Dunbar lab since January of 2006. He is interested in
conceptual change in science education (in particular) and why people believe
what they do (in general). His previous work has encompassed disorders of visual
perception, the interaction of space-based and object-based strategies in
working memory, and the mapping of cognitive control mechanisms in frontal
cortex.
Jim is also an amateur astronomer and member of the New Hampshire Astronomical Society. He lives in Hanover with Allison Schraf, his wife, and Merlin and Winston, his cats.
