about this site

I would be lying if I said I put this site together all by myself. While I did write the html, design the layout and (of course) create all the artwork, I got a lot of help on the javascript from people who may never know how much they helped me.

First of all, I must thank www.dynamicdrive.com for being the best javascript source I have run across (and believe me, I've done a lot of searching). Although I do not know how to write javascript myself, I took about one week of a course that introduced me to the basics enough for me to be able to modify existing codes. Dynamicdrive.com gave me great codes that were generally simple enough for me to edit and combine them to do what I wanted them to do.

Secondly, I must thank Reese Inman for the inspiration for my current website layout. Her site is clear, efficient, and beautiful. Though I wanted my javascript code to be a bit more complex than what she has, her site gave me new ideas and tips on layout for a cleaner site.

Once I ran across Reese's site it was just a matter of finding that illusive code that would allow text to pop up on the page when an image was clicked. After over 4 months of searching for that code on Google and other artists' websites, it was dynamicdrive.com that once again was my savior. With their Textual Tooltip script, combined with their Image Thumbnail Viewer script, I was able to combine and tweak the codes to work as you can see here on my website!

The result of all this is a site I am finally proud to have built. Though there are some issues with the code in Internet Explorer, I'm hoping this will be my last major overhaul of this site. While the resulting script is rather complicated and tedious to update, it is far better than what I had before. I hope that the ease of navigation will make-up for the labor-intensive code writing I've been doing. ***And I'm not even a computer-science person!!!*** My parents are proud, I'm sure.

Comments and suggestions are welcome, just e-mail me using the link above, especially if you know how to achieve the result I have with a simpler script. (i.e. have small images that, when clicked, will display a larger image with text describing that image. The larger image must also work as a link, but doesn't have to, and the text that pops up must be linkable).
