What puzzles me is how terrible it all was when Krasotkin brought Zhuchka in.  Sure, Ilyusha was relieved to see the resurrected Zhushka, but he was tormented, too.  Anyone could see it.  Why did that resurrection fail?  Isn’t Zhuchka the miracle we’d all been praying for?
