Joining the Team
Membership in UVWRT is acquired through a standardized application process. There are basic requirements including the
following:
- All members must be at least 18 years of age.

All members must exhibit professional attitude and level of dedication.
NOTE: Membership in UVWRT is a serious commitment in time and energy and should not be taken lightly. As a volunteer
organization, the team is only as strong as the commitment of its volunteers. All members are expected to participate in
UVWRT meetings, drills, and functions.
- All members must have a basic competency in outdoor living and survival skills.

All members must acquire and maintain a suitable 24 hour ready pack with all the required gear outlined in the UVWRT Equipment List.

All members must agree to abide by the UVWRT Constitution and By-Laws and Standard Operating Procedures.

All member must complete an application form, including the liability waiver, and turn in a completed UVWRT Equipment
List form.

All members must read and become familiar with the NASAR publication Fundamentals of Search and Rescue that
has been adopted as our team training manual.

Your application fee of $58 must accompany the application. This covers the first year's dues of $20 and $38 for the team's
training manual Fundamentals of Search and Rescue. Checks should be made out to: UVWRT. (The money will be refunded only if
the application is denied.)
Please note: Final acceptance is always at the discretion of the UVWRT officers, regardless of qualifications, and
membership applications may be denied or put on hold to maintain a manageable team size.
- Complete the UVWRT Application Form.

One of the requirements of the Application Form is that you look at the UVWRT Constitution and
By-Laws and the UVWRT Standard Operating Procedures for the Field. [SOP's]. Please do
not initial the application form until you have reviewed these documents.

Assemble a 24 hour pack with the gear described in the UVWRT Equipment List. You should check off
the items that you have, sign it, and submit it with your application. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE PROPER GEAR.
[Any questions/concerns (need to know about gear suppliers?) - consult an officer.) And don't
worry, when you are accepted you will receive an UVWRT Operations Manual with another copy of the equipment
list for you to keep. YOU MUST KEEP YOUR GEAR READY AT ALL TIMES SO THAT YOU CAN RESPOND TO A CALL AS RAPIDLY AS POSSIBLE.

Return your completed Application Form, Equipment List, and your first dues payment ($58.00 - checks made out to: UVWRT).

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the officers of UVWRT. Please understand that final acceptance is at
the discretion of the UVWRT officers, regardless of qualifications, and membership applications may be denied or put on hold
to maintain a manageable team size.
