338 John Hill.314,315,316,317,318,319  b. England about 1630. d. Sherborn, Ma on January 23, 1718.

John resided in Dorchester until about the time of his marriage. In 1657, he was one of a group of men who purchased 3,000 acres from the Nipmuck Indians on the frontier which later became the town of Sherborn. John's share was 250 acres. The total purchase price was about 32 pounds. About that same time he settled on the land near Bogistow Pond on the west bank of the Charles River. In 1662, John was among 14 settlers who petitioned the General Court to establish a separate town and church for their settlement. It was denied at this time, but finally granted in 1674. During King Phillip's War the settlers of Sherborn remained with their settlement despite its being on the frontier. Only one house was burned and five or six people killed, although the town was under constant threat. He served as constable and selectman in Sherborn during his life.

342 Cornelius Fisher.326,327,328,329  d. Wrentham, MA on January 2, 1700. bpt. Denton, Norfolk, England on August 16, 1629.

Cornelius was on of the first settlers of the town of Wrentham, Mass. where he was a carpenter. He joined the church in Dedham in 1648 and was made a freeman of the town in 1649. He was chosen as a representative of the General Court in 1692, Constable of Dedham in 1668 and Poundmaster in 1672. He was one of the original 13 Wollonopaug Proprietors and was living in the Wrentham in 1673 when it was established as a separate town. His homestead was located adjacent to the village church and it is recorded that he was paid for the maintenance of the church and fences. During King Phillip's War, the Fishers, along with all the other residents were forced to abandon the town because of its isolated location and it was burned. Cornelius returned to Wrentham to rebuild and died there at age 67. His will shows a homestead at 105 pounds, outlands and meadows at 68 pounds and a total value of 242 pounds. He bequeathed to his son-in- law Benjamin Hall meadow lands at Stoney Brook.

344 Capt. Jonathan Ginnings.  b. about 1653.334 d. Windham, CT on June 27, 1733.334 bur. Windham Center Cemetery.

His place of birth and his parents are not known with certainty. The will of Mary (Williams) Ginnings named a son, Nathan, which name was often used as a nickname for Jonathan. This is the reason he is often placed as a son of Joshua and Mary Ginnings. Joshua Ginning's will did not name a son Nathan or Jonathan. Other genealogists suggest that his father was Nicholas Ginnings of Ipswich, England, Hartford, CT and Saybrook, CT. Nicholas was in the right place and time to have been Jonathan's father, and had connections on Long Island as did Jonathan.
