13 Catherine MacLeod.30  b. Barra, Scotland about 1807.30,35 d. Georgeville, Antigonish, NS.

14 Duncan Fraser.36  b. McClellan's Mountain, Pictou, NS on March 22, 1809.37 d. Iron Rock, Pictou, NS on May 5, 1880.38 bur. Sunny Brae, Pictou, NS. Resided in Iron Rock, Pictou, NS after 1830. (near Sunny Brae).

Duncan came from South McCellan's Mountain, but whether he was born there is not known.

In a deed dated July 14, 1838 from Angus Fraser of McClellan's Mt., deacon to Duncan Fraser of McClellan's Mt., yeoman for five shillings and "love and affection to his son" transferred 100 acres of land in McClellan's Mt. beginning on West side of Wentworth Grant and NE corner of land of John McClellan, west to McPherson's land, south to McClellan's lot and back east; signed by Angus Fraser and Margaret, his wife, witnessed by John Holmes and Alex Cambell.39
Duncan's family appears on page 104 of the 1838 Census of Pictou County in the township of Egerton, listed as a farmer with six people in the family. Dr. Edwin Fraser remembers that as of 1979, an old home built by Duncan at Iron Rock was still is use. Charlie Fraser of Halifax recalled in 2001 that Duncan's original homestaed was a log house. The property passed to Duncan's son, Charles H. and to his son Sylvestor and to his son Charlie by 1980. About 1890, iron ore and limestone were mined on the property which was taken to Ferrona for smelting. At this time Duncan's son John operated a hotel or boarding house on the extreme south end of the property.

The Pictou County Atlas of 1879 shows Angus' grant as belonging to John Cumming (Simon's portion), Duncan and Charles Fraser (each l00 acres). This transfer from Angus to Duncan states "to my well beloved son Duncan for the sum of six shillings, I bequeath that Property containing the house and pigsty". Duncan's 100 acres were in the southwest corner of the original grant on the old Blanchard Road close to the site of the Blanchard schoolhouse. Angus' original grant on western boundary extended north to the Blanchard Cemetery and may have included the present cemetery site. The eastern and southern boundaries of land disposed of in above transfer belong respectively to Charles Fraser and Duncan Fraser (100 each). In the Pictou County Atlas of 1879 the two 100 acre portions still belonged to Charles and Duncan, but the two hundred acres (Simon's) belonged to John Cumming. 36The 1879 Pictou County Atlas also shows Duncan's homestead property on the east side of the east branch of the East River on the St. Pauls - Sunny Brae Road (100 acres).

Duncan and Annie's family appear in the census listing of 1871 as #185:

Duncan, 62, farmer
Annie, 64, housewife
John G., 33, farmer
Charles H., 29, farmer
Donald Allen, 21, farmer
Duncan Alex, 25, farmer
Simon, 21, school teacher
Martin, 6 (Martin's relationship is unknown. He is too young to be Annie's son)
All were members of the Church of Scotland and born in Nova Scotia.

He m. Annie "Nancy" MacDonald36, on December 2, 1830 in McClellan's Mountain, Pictou, NS.40 by Rev. Donald Allan Fraser (possibly at the kirk at S. McClellan's Mt.).
