Transfers in to Dartmouth College

If you have been accepted to Dartmouth College, and are currently attending another US institution, we must effect an official State Department transfer of your J-1 program to Dartmouth. This is a completely separate procedure from the academic transfer you must also go through. Please make it very clear to your admissions counselor that you are on an J-1 program at another US school, and need to transfer your J-1 program to Dartmouth.

When we receive notification of your admittance to Dartmouth from the appropriate college admissions office or from your department, we will issue you an DS-2019 form. We will send this new transfer DS-2019 form to your "old" school. They must sign the bottom of this form, and mail it back to us. We will then process your transfer by mailing the yellow copy of the DS-2019 to the State Department, and the pink copy to you. Once you arrive on campus, you must come to the International Office with your new Dartmouth DS-2019 and your passport to officially "check-in" with us, per CIS and State Department regulations.

If you will be traveling outside the U.S. before you come to Dartmouth, please let us know, as we will then use a different notification procedure.
