Other F-1 Employment Options

In addition to on-campus, OPT, and CPT employment, F-1 students may also take advantage of two other types of employment.

Severe Economic Hardship Employment

To qualify for this type of employment, you must apply to the BCIS and demonstrate that since your acceptance into your program of study, your financial situation has somehow drastically changed for the worse. You must show that this change was unforeseeable and out of your control. Please contact the International Office if you believe you qualify for this type of employment.

International Organization Employment

You may accept employment offered to you by a recognized international organization, such as an internship with the United Nations. Please contact the International Office for more information.
