The course will examine efforts by Christian theologians to solve "the problem of evil." Can we believe in the Christian God when the world includes so many grievous evils? The so-called "free will defense" is examined and found wanting. A revised free-will defense is offered, as well as needed revisions in our understanding of the nature of God and of God’s relation to the world.
