Too scary to think about for most people, and neither presidential candidate paid much attention to the problem during the election campaign. Yet Graham Allison (a Harvard professor who has advised both Republican and Democratic presidents) has a new blockbuster book that gives a "yes" answer to both the above questions. Short, easy-to read, and focused sharply on needed policy reforms, Allison's book argues that this issue ought to be the nation's Number 1 anti-terrorism priority. We'll read and discuss Allison's book, Nuclear Terrorism: The Ultimate Preventable Catastrophe, supplemented by a few handouts focused on Iran, North Korea and Brazil.
