Peter Behr

Wednesdays 12:00 – 2:00 PM
January 26th & February 2nd, 2005
D.O.C. House

The Holland to Hungary river cruise on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, including transiting the Main-Danube Canal, will provide an opportunity to observe European water traffic on its most important arteries.  This two-day mini-course will provide an overview of the European river and canal systems, the various craft which ply them, and the locks and other features which render the waterways navigable.  We will examine the Main-Danube canal, which was completed in 1993, but was originally conceived in 1921 to replace the so-called Ludwig canal, which was completed in 1845.

Participants going to Holland/Hungary in May 2005 will have precedence.

PETER BEHR is an engineer who lived in France, Holland and the U.K. while working on various major construction projects, including the Channel Tunnel, over a thirty-year period.  His course on major construction projects has been given by ILEAD four times.
