Ever visit one of the great gardens of China, Japan and Europe and wondered about their underlying design and philosophy and how they may have influenced some of our great gardens large and small? In three two-hour sessions, we will look at the basic elements of garden design in Europe during the Renaissance and Romantic periods, the gardens of China and Japan with an emphasis on how they influenced European and American garden design, and some of our great American gardens. Handouts will be provided to stimulate discussion.

Class is limited to 20 members.

Marianne Kuchel is an avid gardener who holds a Certificate in Landscape Design from George Washington University. In travels around the world, she has never missed an opportunity to visit gardens of all types
