Eastern Europe in Translation

Thomas A. Blinkhorn

Thursdays 12:00 - 2:00 PM

April 7 through April 21, 2005

DOC House

The collapse of Communism unleashed historic, turbulent changes throughout Eastern Europe that are still being felt today, some fifteen years later.  This mini-course will involve discussions of the economic, social and political transformation of the region, focusing particularly on countries such as Russia, Ukraine, the Baltics and Romania.  Selected readings will be suggested and at least one video will be shown.  Active participant discussion is encouraged.

Class is limited to 15 members.
