As a preparation for the trip to Ireland in May 2004, the ILEAD Study-Travel Committee has arranged for six lectures on Irish language and literature. In addition to these lectures, the committee will provide an “entertainment” prior to the trip — entertainment like cheese and ale and cheer and Irish music.

The following lectures will be offered beginning in the week of March 22:

• Week 1: Perry Curtis: The Celtic Revival
• Week 2: Tim Thacher: Irish Folktales
• Week 3: Vida Deming: Swift, Wilde, Shaw, et al
• Week 4: Joe Medlicott: James Joyce's Dubliners
• Week 5: Martha Manheim: Contemporary Irish novels and plays
• Week 6: Margaret Edwards: W.B. Yeats

The trip to Ireland will leave from Boston on Monday, May 3.

Class is limited to those participants going to Ireland in May 2004.
