Introduction To Reading And Writing Poetry

Mame Willey

Fridays, 9:30 a.m. - Noon
March 26 - May 14, 2004
D.O.C. House

Renew your acquaintanceship with old friends from Wordsworth to Robert Frost; make some new friends from Billy Collins to Charles Simic. You'll learn how to read poetry and to write your own poems and read them to a supportive group of other aspiring poets. Join us for eight weeks of reading, writing and lively discussion of poetry. We hope to publish an anthology of class poems, as well. The second edition of Vintage Book of Contemporary American Poetry will be used for this course.

Class is limited to 15 members.

Mame Willey has taught creative writing courses at the Boston and Cambridge Centers for Adult Education, and composition courses at Bentley College, Wellesley College, and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. She received her MFA in poetry from the Bennington College Writing Seminars. Her poems have appeared in Cumberland Poetry Review, Anthology of New England Writers, Blueline, and California Quarterly.
