Learning About Alzheimer's Disease

Harriet Baldwin

Mondays, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 .am.
March 22 - May 3, 2004 (No class on April 12)
D.O.C. House

The goal of this course is to learn more about Alzheimer's disease. We are all afraid of it - in ourselves, our friends, and our family members. The course will not do away with our fear, but it should help us develop a realistic view of the disease and deepen our awareness of its impact on ourselves and society. In each session a specialist in Alzheimer's will meet with us. About 20 pages of reading will be expected for each session.

  • March 22: An Introduction to Alzheimer's Disease - Robert B. Santulli, MD
  • March 29: Clinical Issues in Alzheimer's Disease - Robert B. Santulli, MD
  • April 5: New Brain Imaging Research - Andrew Saykin, PsyD
  • April 12: No Session
  • April 19: Moral and Ethical Issues in Alzheimer's - Diane Palac, MD
  • April 26: Caregiving - Ruth Whybrow, ASCW
  • May 3: Public Issues about Alzheimer's Disease - Sherri Hardin, Alzheimer's Assn. of NH and VT

Class is limited to 20 members.

Harriet Baldwin led an ILEAD course on the treatment of serious mental illness in the winter of 2003.
