Ecclesiastes is one of the most curious and fascinating books of the Bible. It has the distinction of being quoted often, and yet it is little understood. Some would argue that the world view of the author or authors of Ecclesiastes offers little hope for life. At the same time it is part of the wisdom literature of ancient Israel, and wisdom and knowledge stand out as common motifs of the book. Through reading and discussion the class will grapple with profound issues which are of concern to everyone. For the moment it is a time to live. As for the future..... Reading will include the Book of Ecclesiastes and occasional handouts.
Class is limited to 40 participants.
