The United States has been heavily involved in North Africa and the Middle East for over half a century. The countries with which we have been most engaged include Egypt, Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq. The overview course will allow participants to judge how World War II, oil, the Cold War, support for Israel, and the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11/01 have shaped our actions in North Africa and the Middle East.
Participants will have handouts, and probably a text, prepared by the instructor and will be invited to view DVD’s related to the topics.
Class is limited to 40 members.
