We all help one another when we act creatively (Barron, Creators on Creating). This study group will use poetry as our model for creativity and imagination-stretching, examining published works and our own in a work-together, open-discussion, light-hearted class for poets and non-poets alike. Short readings in our text will be suggested and discussed to see how the famous handled all this.
Class is limited to 14 participants.
Nancy Sully is a published poet who first became intrigued with the creative process while working towards her MA in creative writing. In her final semester, none of her current poems were approved by her advisor, so she sat down at the typewriter twice a week to write the 30 poems required for her thesis. Amazingly, she found the process possible, exciting, enjoyable and addictive. She went on to get her California Jr. College and Adult Education credential and has been teaching and writing ever since. Nancy is more convinced every day that creativity of all kinds lurks in us all and needs only to be called upon.
