D.O.C. House
An eight-week course designed to sharpen writing skills, with or without previous experience. The first six sessions will be assignments to bring out "the writer in you." Your work will be read in class and will be critiqued honestly and be non-intimidating. The student will learn to evaluate work by asking, "Do I capture and hold the readers' interest?" keeping in mind the importance of the opening sentence. We will study the elimination of unnecessary words and how to chose words with precise meaning. Strong emphasis will be placed on having students read their work in class.
Class is limited to 10 participants.
Sue Levi is a graduate of the International School of Geneva, has a BA in French Literature, and has taught fiction writing at Skidmore College in Saratoga. She has been published in the "New York Times" and "Redbook Magazine."
