Mondays 12:30-2:30 PM
September 29 through November 17, 2003
D.O.C. House
We will explore the lives, works, and detectives of six brilliant women writers: Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, Margery Allingham, Josephine Tey, Ngaio Marsh, and P.D. James. If you already read works by these ladies, I hope you will find their lives interesting as well. If you are unfamiliar with their writing, may this course be an introduction to hours of future pleasure. One book by each author will be studied by the class. No book will be a repeat of work used in the previous course. We will have one class devoted to a distinguished guest.
Class participants will be encouraged, but not demanded, to contribute short reports on subjects related to each writer.
Class is limited to 20 participants.
Chica Maynard Six years at summer camp in New Hampshire were largely spent scrunched under a kerosene lamp reading mysteries. The love of the genre has remained constant for Chica. She would like to continue to spread the word about this underappreciated realm of literature.
