Individual And Collective Action:Doing The Right Thing Right

Mel Shakun

Mondays 3-5 PM
September 29 through November 10, 2003
D.O.C. House
(not October 6)

As humans, we are all involved with purposes. We take action to achieve goals and values - all purposes. Collective action - acting together - increases possibilities for participating individuals to achieve purposes beyond what can be achieved with individual action. In any case, we would like action to be right action - doing the right thing right. We explore individual and collective action in real situations and fictional stories often in an intercultural context. The class involves a combination of lectures and active group discussion with moderate reading.

Class is limited to 20 participants.
