Do the Right Thing

Do The Right ThingFilm and Discussion with Palaeopitus and OPAL Director Sylvia Spears

Thursday, January 22
7 pm, Fahey/McLane lounge, first floor

One of Spike Lee's most controversial and thought-provoking films, Do the Right Thing focuses on intersections of race, class, ethnicity, gender, and community in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Tracing the rise of racial tensions on the hottest day of the year, this tour de force explores the spaces between right and wrong, justice and retribution, and reason and outrage as it raises questions about conflict, resolution, and the role of violence.
