A “grievance” is a claim that the College, acting through
an individual or a group, has violated the Equal Opportunity Policy.
A “grievant” is an employee who believes that the College
has violated the Equal Opportunity Policy. Typically, the grievant has to
have been affected by the violation, but, in some cases a grievant can bring
forward a complaint to address a concern that does not affect the grievant
directly.
A “respondent” is the individual who made the decision(s)
or took the action(s) that forms the basis for a grievance.
