Alba Patera: Almost due North of Ascraeus Lacus, Alba is a volcanic structure that differs from others on Mars. There is a low, rather gently sloping dome and a shallower crater structure at the summit. The altitude is much less than that of the giant volcanoes to the south, and the ground in this area slopes toward the relatively low areas of the polar region.
