Veterans Day ButtonDartmouth College will commemorate Veterans Day 2013 with a series of events scheduled from Thursday, November 7, through Friday, November 15, honoring the service of America's veterans. All members of the Dartmouth community are encouraged to join us in recognizing the accomplishments and sacrifices of the men and women who have so proudly and valiantly worn the uniforms of our nation's military.

Slide Show of Remembrance, Baker Library: Running slideshow of Dartmouth veterans and Dartmouth community members' relatives who have served.

Friday, November 8

6:30pm: Dartmouth College's Second Annual Veterans Day Banquet, Collis Common Ground: Organized by Dartmouth College student-veteran organizations to express appreciation and to unite and foster positive relationships between military veterans and Dartmouth students, alumni, faculty, and staff. (Ticket purchase required – click here for more information and to register.)

Saturday, November 9, through Sunday, November 10

Dartmouth Uniformed Service Alumni (DUSA) Events: Enjoy a weekend of ceremonies, lectures, award presentations, tours, and home sporting events as they celebrate Veterans Day and formally launch the Dartmouth Uniformed Service Alumni as Dartmouth's newest Alumni group. Events include a panel discussion on Saturday morning, an Awards Luncheon on Saturday (featured speaker: Brig. Gen, Burke Whitman '78, USMC), and a War Monument Tour on Sunday morning. Saturday, November 9, through Monday, November 11

Dartmouth Big Green Honors Veterans: Free tickets for all Veterans to all Dartmouth home events Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Please present a valid military ID. (For questions or to buy tickets in advance, call the Dartmouth ticket office at 603-646-2466.)

Sunday, November 10

5:30pm: Annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball, Hanover Inn: The annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball celebrates the 238th Birthday of the United States Marine Corp and proceeds support the Semper Fi Fund and Project VetCare. Guest of honor: James E. Wright, President Emeritus and former Lance Corporal, USMC. (Ticket purchase required – contact Rick Johnson, richard.a.johnson@dartmouth.edu, for more information.)

Monday, November 11

6:30am: Reveille Ceremony, Dartmouth Green: Reveille Ceremony at the campus flag, conducted by the Dartmouth ROTC.

8:00-9:30am: Veterans Day Remembrance Breakfast, Hanover Inn: The Hanover Fire Department Honor Guard will present colors, followed by the National Anthem and remarks by President Philip J. Hanlon and Michael Rodriguez, MALS '13. Sponsored by the Office of Human Resources. (Registration required - click here for more information and to register.)

4:45pm-5:15pm: Retreat & Drill Ceremony, Dartmouth Green: Following the playing of the Service Hymns by the Baker Bells, there will be a formal Drill and Retreat Ceremony at the campus flag, conducted by the Dartmouth ROTC.

7:00-9:00pm: Tuck Armed Forces Alumni Association (AFAA) Panel Discussion, Cohen Great Hall, Whittemore Hall, Tuck: An open discussion with a panel of Tuck Students to learn how unique experiences in the military have shaped their views on leadership and business. Moderated by Professor Matthew Slaughter. All over 21 are welcome. (Click here for more information.)

Tuesday, November 12

9:00am-2:00pm: VA Benefits Fair, Rooms 041 and 046, Haldeman Center: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR&E) counselors will be available to discuss educational, medical and healthcare benefits and services. For veterans and for administrators who work with Dartmouth veteran students. Sponsored by the Office of Institutional Diversity & Equity (IDE) at Dartmouth College. (Contact employee.resource.networks@dartmouth.edu for more information. RSVP is encouraged, but not required.)

Friday, November 15

4:00-5:30pm: Rockefeller Center Public Program, Room 003, Rockefeller Center: Why Continuing Service to Your Country Matters - Michael Breen '02, Executive Director, The Truman National Security Project and the Center for National Policy. (Click here for more information.)
