Veterans Day ButtonDartmouth College will commemorate Veterans Day 2012 with a series of events scheduled from Thursday, November 8, through Tuesday, November 13, honoring the service of America's veterans. All members of the Dartmouth community are encouraged to join us in recognizing the accomplishments and sacrifices of the men and women who have so proudly and valiantly worn the uniforms of our nation's military.

On Thursday, November 8, Tuck Armed Forces Alumni Association (AFAA) will hold a celebration for Dartmouth community veterans and their families from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Retreat Ceremony featuring the Dartmouth College ROTC will be held on the Green on Friday, November 9, at 5:00 p.m., and will be followed by a Veterans Day Banquet organized by Dartmouth student-veteran organizations (ticket purchase required). Events on Monday, November 12, include the 2012 Veterans Day Remembrance Breakfast for Dartmouth community veterans, families, faculty and staff, with a keynote address by Dartmouth NROTC alum Rabbi Arnold E. Resnicoff, '68. At 4:30 p.m. the Rockefeller Center's Veterans Day Program features three Kendal residents and contributors to the book "World War II Remembered" speaking about their experiences then and now. On Tuesday, November 13 at 4:30 p.m., Rabbi Resnicoff will speak on "Faith and Force: Religion in the U.S. Military Today" in a lecture open to students, faculty and staff at Rockefeller Center. A slideshow of Dartmouth veterans and Dartmouth community members' relatives who have served will run at Baker Library from November 5 through November 13. Dartmouth Big Green Honors Veterans: There is a Buy One Get One Free ticket deal for all Veterans at the following Dartmouth home events this weekend: Friday, November 9: Men's Soccer vs. Brown at 7pm; Men's Hockey vs. RPI at 7pm; Saturday, November 10: Football vs. Brown at 1.30pm; Men's Basketball vs. Maine at 7pm; Men's Hockey vs. Union at 7pm. Please present a valid military ID. For questions or how to buy tickets in advance call the Dartmouth ticket office at 603-646-2466.

  • 4:45 p.m. Gather on the Green for 5:00 p.m. Retreat Ceremony
  • 5:30 p.m. Veterans Day Banquet, Collis Center: Organized by Dartmouth College student-veteran organizations to express appreciation and to unite and foster positive relationships between military vetrans and Dartmouth students, alumni, faculty and staff. Sunday, November 11

  • 5:00-5:30 p.m. College Chapel Service, with hymns and prayers honoring our veterans. Guest Speaker: Dr. James Murphy, Professor of Government: "What is Truth?". Optional dinner and discussion to follow at '53 Commons.

Monday, November 12

  • 8:30-10:00 a.m. Veterans Day Remembrance Breakfast sponsored by the Office of Human Resources. (Click here for more information and to register.) Introductory remarks by Myron McCoo, VP of Human Resources, and Stoney Portis, Dartmouth Graduate Veterans Association. Guest speaker: Rabbi Arnold E. Resnicoff '68.
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. Rockefeller Center Veterans Day Program: Three Kendal residents and contributors to the book "World War II Remembered" will speak about their experiences then and now. Location: Rockefeller 3.

Tuesday, November 13

  • 4:30-5:45 p.m.: Rabbi Arnold E. Resnicoff '68 will speak on "Faith and Force: Religion in the U.S. Military Today." Lecture open to students, faculty and staff, and the public.
