Directors, managers, and supervisors have the vital responsibility of reinforcing the values of the institution through best practices that treat employees with respect and fully support them as they perform their jobs. The Office of Human Resources is here to support front-line people managers with continuous learning opportunities that have direct impact on Dartmouth's success.
Management Essentials at Dartmouth (MEAD) is designed to offer a framework for personal and professional exploration, through which participants develop new ways of leading and managing. In this program, participants will meet colleagues from across the campus that share common situations, needs, and solutions. Participants are encouraged to make their experience a valuable one by listening, sharing, reflecting, and, ultimately, bringing an enhanced leadership dynamic to the workplace.
MEAD is a 6-month program with a blended learning framework comprised of on-line learning integrated with monthly classroom application sessions. During the classroom application experience, participants have the opportunity to engage in role plays, interact with institutional leaders, subject matter experts and HR Consultants, apply the on-line content to the Dartmouth setting, and practice using the content in exercises led by subject matter experts, consultants and HR Program Sponsor and Coordinators. In addition to the application classroom, participants are invited to immerse themselves in bi-monthly course content lunch-and-learn discussions to share best practices, challenges and ideas with their cohort group, program sponsors and HR Consultants.
