Dartmouth College is establishing a Financial Hardship Fund (FHF) to offer financial assistance to those eligible employees affected by involuntary layoffs or reductions in hours. FHF payments will be made specifically for unmet financial needs not addressed through the layoff package and loan programs. Dartmouth employees, as well as other individuals and organizations, may contribute to the fund effective immediately.
FHF awards will be given as grants of up to $2,000 per person and will be treated as taxable income. Approval and distribution of FHF payments will be made by Crosby Benefit Systems, the current administrator of the College’s Flexible Spending Accounts and COBRA processes. The FHF will operate until April 1, 2012, as long as funds are available. Any remaining balance on that date will be applied to the existing emergency loan program for hourly employees.
