About
After Hours is a program jointly sponsored by the Human Resources
Departments of Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The
goal of this initiative is to provide College and Medical Center employees with
opportunities to get acquainted and participate in social, recreational and
cultural activities. After Hours events are open to all employees, partners and
families.
Recent After Hours activities include:
trips to NYC, Montreal, bus trips to see the Red Sox, hikes up Moosilauke,
Cardigan and Velvet Rocks, wine, beer and chocolate tastings, receptions at the
Hood museum of art, french cooking, knitting, stamping, beading, indoor
rock-climbing, ice-skating and family ski-days.
The After Hours coordinator for the College is Jessica Friedman.
Community Note
Dear Friends,
This spring the After Hours committee has worked hard to provide you with
many new and exciting events. These include: two bus trips to NYC (one that
includes Broadway tickets), a trip to see the Red Sox, chocolate and wine
tastings, artist lectures and even a party! Once the snow melts (it has to melt
soon right?!), we will get you outdoors on the golf course, high ropes course,
give you some gardening tips and get you out on your bike. We have expanded our
cooking classes thanks to Christine and Ann Marie and have a new slate of
learning opportunities. Many of these events would not be on our flyer if not
for your feedback. Please email us with your comments and suggestions - it
keeps us fresh and allows us to create events that appeal to you.
We would like to thank our employee volunteers who hosted events last
quarter: Kelly Cusick, Christine Toutain-Kidd, Gloria Comstock, Rex Morey,
Janet Koes, Cecile Williams, Courtney Fiedler and Ed Tadesco. Congratulations
to our raffle and limbo winners from events last quarter and thank you to our
local sponsors who provided prizes.
The First Thursday of 2008 was a huge success with over 130 employees
attending the Marriott Courtyard’s Caribbean-themed kick-off. Lorrie
Hillsgrove, Megan Read, Norm Hurd were the limbo contest winners with over 30
door prizes being raffled off including stays at the Marriott, beach umbrellas,
certificates from Margaritas and EBA, hats, T-shirts and glassware.
You may have noticed that we are co-sponsoring events with employee resource
groups at the College and Medical Center. All co-sponsored events are
open to everyone, if you are involved in a formal or informal group and are
interested in co-sponsoring an event please contact us!
As you can see from our spring calendar we will continue to expand our
offerings and will be sending out a survey soon to learn more about events that
interest you. We look forward to seeing you at an event soon!

After Hours Message Board!
For those of you who feel like a spontaneous hike or social hour blitz
afterhours@dartmouth.edu and we will post your activity on our website and
blitz out a listing on our blitz bulletin. All events are open to anyone
monitoring the after hours site or bulletin! Please note that although we
strongly encourage people to post events, all events posted on the message
board are independent of the After Hours program.
Volunteer Now
The success of this initiative depends on employee involvement. We need
employees of Dartmouth College and DHMC to participate in activities and
volunteer to organize group events. We are looking for new leaders for our
summer activities (July - September). E-mail us with your ideas!
