Learn how to work with your digital photos in this new introductory class. We’ll cover using the Photoshop CS3 Bridge program for organizing photos, sizing images for Web and print projects, color correction techniques, how to fix contrast in images, and other topics. We’ll be working on the College’s PC computers but the techniques will transfer easily for those who work on Macs. Bring your photos on CDs or a portable drive to class so you can work on them with the assistance of the instructor. In addition, please bring blank disks so you can take images you work on in class back home with you. The class will run over 4 consecutive sessions and cost is $40 per person. Register Now!

Learn some techniques to make thin gauge copper, brass and aluminum wire and sheet metal obey the 3-D vision you want in your design. This is a time to make gifts of all kinds: tree/window ornament or quick sculptural earrings, pendants, pin. You can bring your beads or found objects of choice to include. Cost: $45 per person. Build a pottery container for your valuables. We’ll use slab construction methods to build the box, and working with slips and glazes create exciting surface decorations. Come with an idea of a small item you’d like to house. This class will be run over 3 sessions and you will need to attend all sessions to finish your project. Cost: $40 per person. Register Now!
Working with all the shooting options on your camera can be exciting and a bit daunting at the same time. The first session will focus on more advanced camera techniques. In the second session we’ll share photographs with each other and discuss how to set up a digital darkroom, options for printing, e-mailing, and archiving photos; calibration devices; how to organize your photos for future use; image backup systems; and many other topics. This class is designed for participants who took Digital Photography I with Lia Rothstein during the summer or for those with intermediate experience with their digital camera menus and options. MATERIALS LIST: Digital camera with manual, fully charged battery(ies) in camera, camera cables, empty memory card (depending on camera, a minimum capacity of 512MB preferred for point-and-shoot cameras, 1-2GB for digital SLRs), notebook. In case of rain, bring a plastic bag large enough to put the camera inside. (Optional: a laptop for viewing photos so they may be shared with the instructor and group for the second class. If a laptop is brought, please also bring a power cord and mouse, if desired).
