The Hopkins Center's plaza was abuzz with discussion about photographer David Michalek's breathtaking "Slow Dancing" video installation. Once the sun set, audiences (and numerous passersby) were treated to a trio of high-definition video sequences projected onto 15-foot screens.
The images featured an array of dancers from all disciplines -- displayed in slow motion. Using a specialized camera shooting 1,000 frames per second, Michalek turned each dancer's 5-second movement phrase into an extended 10-minute gestural "ballet".
