| During the deliberations of the Fifty-Ninth
Annual Meeting of the American Musicological Society, an International Study
Group was formed to promote research on Hispanic Music. The world wide interest
in this area has grown considerably in the last two decades with scholars
from many parts of the world engaged in research on the legacy of artistic
and cultural achievements of Hispanic musicians.
The Study Group issues a newsletter twice a year which disseminates information of all kinds relevant to the study and performance of hispanic music. Individuals and institutions are encouraged to submit newsworthy information for inclusion. The Study Group also maintains a directory of individuals who study and/or perform hispanic music that will be available to participants of the Study Group. Individuals and institutions wishing to participate in the International Hispanic Music Study Group may contact the coordinator at: William Summers |
