With Passover rapidly approaching, the Torah provides that one is not to own chametz (those products that have leaven in it; food products that must be kosher for Passover). Each year, as the Rabbi for Dartmouth College Hillel and for the Upper Valley Jewish Community, I enter into a contract with a non-Jew to enter into a sale of all such chametz for all those who are members of Dartmouth College Hillel and the Upper Valley Jewish Community. You needn’t do anything, but I know that some do this on their own or have others do it for them under an “agent agreement”.
You needn’t do anything to be included. Traditionally, someone might write back say, “Please sell my chametz on my behalf.” If you do that, your name will be specifically included in the contract that I will execute on Friday morning. If you wish to be excluded, your name will be specifically mentioned as one whose chametz is not included in the agreement.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me - my direct line is 603-646-0361. Wishing you a wonderful Pesach, a time to reflect on the divine gift of freedom,
Passover Seders at Hillel
We are still accepting RSVPs for this year’s seder. It will be taking place on the first night of passover, APRIL 6 at 6:45pm at the Roth Center. Please blitz Claudia Palmer with your DBA number (the 9-digit number that starts with an 86 on your ID) ASAP. To help cover the costs of food preparation and service, you will be charged $20 from your DBA. If you are interested in helping to lead the seder (reading in English or Hebrew), please blitz Asher Mayerson. If you would like to hold a family-style seder with a small group of friends (8-20 people), blitz Hillel ASAP to reserve a room in the Roth Center.
Hillel will be having a second night of Passover seder in the Roth Center, lead by our wonderful VP Religion- Asher Meyerson. If you’re interested in helping out in any way, or have any questions about or suggestions for the service, just send him a blitz! Please RSVP to Asher as well, by April 6th, if you would like to attend this second seder.
