“Pursuing the Text”: Passover, Freedom, and the ‘eternal’ nature of its
celebration (Exodus 12:1-20)
Come study, learn, and share with others in the pursuit of the text from our
rich tradition!
*********************
Friday, April 1
5:00 p.m.
the Roth Center
**********************
This Shabbat is a special one. Hahodesh which literally means “The Month,”
describes in detail the first laws of Passover that were to be observed in
Egypt before the Exodus and how it was a “mitzvah” (commandment) to be
practiced for all subsequent generations.
From this description several problems arise within our Sages pursuit of
understanding a text which they considered to be of Divine Providence;
including human suffering, moving past one’s own history to grow, the
‘right’ to be free, and G-d’s involvement in the unfolding of history. Come
study, learn, and share with others in the pursuit of the text from our rich
tradition.
This will be a weekly learning session every Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Roth
Center to prepare for the Shabbat. Come try it out and see what you think!

“It’s a Lamborghini,”
“What’s a Lamborghini?” asks the Rabbi.
“A sports car.”
