Israel Programs

Israel plays an important role in the conscience of the Jewish community. At Dartmouth Hillel, we recognize that and work to incorporate it into our programming and special events. If you want to spend any amount of time in Israel, Hillel can help, whether it is on the LSA+, a Birthright trip or through another organization.

Israel LSA

In the past, Dartmouth has run Language Study Abroad (LSA) programs to Israel, but because of the ever-changing situation in the region, you should check with the Registrar to see what Dartmouth is currently offering (http://www.dartmouth.edu/~reg/).

A few years ago, before the current escalation of conflict, Dartmouth was fortunate to run a unique opportunity to spend time studying in Jerusalem, an extension of Dartmouth's renowned foreign study and language study programs.  The program began in the Summer of 2001, and any student with knowledge of the equivalent of Hebrew 3 or Arabic 3 could apply for a 10-week term in Jerusalem. Students took three classes through the Asian & Middle Eastern Languages & Literature Department, and they also spent time exploring Jerusalem and its surroundings. The summer experience could also fulfill the summer residency requirement for all Dartmouth students. Birthright Israel

If you have never been to Eretz Yisrael and are interested in visiting the country for ten wonderful and fun-filled days, Hillel International can provide a free trip just for you! With large donations, Hillel has been able to send thousands of Jewish students to Israel as part of the Birthright Israel program. Dartmouth Hillel was given 22 spaces on the June 2000 Birthright trip, and 22 Jewish students from Dartmouth spent 10 days exploring the Jewish homeland. In 2001, we sent another group of students that were able to have a similar experience. From 2005 to 2007, Hillel's Birthright trips had waiting lists,

DIPAC

Additionally, Dartmouth in the past has had it's own group for Israel awareness, DIPAC (Dartmouth Israel Public Awareness Committee).  Currently they do not have a webpage, but feel free to email Hillel for more information.
