Mike Mina '06 and Danny Ellman '06 with two friends from Indura |
In both Indura and Sopotskin, the group was met with open arms and warm hearts. The community members welcomed the team into their homes and treated the participants with the highest respect. In Indura, student participants were paired up and matched with local community families. After eating dinner at the respective families' homes, students were invited to a discotheque at the school. Other events in Indura included banquets at the local town restaurant and a "World Cup" match between the Americans and a team from Indura. In Sopotskin, a similar matching with local families took place. In the evening, another discotheque was held at the local school for both community members and participants. During one of the days in Sopotskin, the participants were invited into the school to participate in classrooms. Despite language barriers, people from each culture were able to learn so much from each other. |
