Grodno

Grodno is located in the northwest corner of Belarus and represents the third largest populated city in the country. Due to its location, it served the team as a perfect base to conduct work in both Indura and Sopotskin. A total of seven days and seven nights were spent in the Grodno region. When not on homestays, the group stayed in a local hotel. On their off day, the participants took walking tours through the Grodno Ghetto with Grigory Chasid, a Holocaust survivor, attended Shabbat services at the Great Grodno Synagogue, visited the local castle, and took a walking tour with university students. After work days, much of the free time was spent in the city. It gave the participants a clear picture of cultural life in a post Soviet country like Belarus. |
