The team visited Auschwitz-Birkenau towards the beginning of its expedition.  Over the course of the day, the participants viewed both Auschwitz II/Birkenau, the death camp and Auschwitz I, the work camp.  Although processed at the beginning of the trip, the emotion felt and the pictures ingrained in everyone's minds resonated throughout the rest of the project.  Within Auschwitz, the team viewed the consequences of genocide and man's inhumanity towards man.  It resulted in an extremely emotional experience for all.  Below are a selection of photographs taken on the ironically beautiful day the team visited.
