Minsk/Warsaw

The last few days of the trip were designed to allow for downtime, regrouping, relaxation and reflection upon what had just been accomplished. The group spent two nights in Minsk and one night in Warsaw before its return to the United States. The group did a variety of things while staying in Minsk. They first visited a University where a representative from the university spoke about Belarusian demographics. Afterwards, the group went to the center of the city where they went to the Patriot of War Museum, a museum that commemorated the Belarusian impact on World War II.

After having lunch, the group went to see one of the oldest surviving Russian Orthodox Churches in all of the former Soviet Union. Thereafter, the group walked over to what had been considered the Minsk Ghetto. Not much is left of the ghetto, as the former synagogue is currently a restaurant. That evening, the group went to the Minsk Opera House to watch an opera to experience some Belarusian culture.

The following day, everyone did a little more shopping in the major department store before departing for Warsaw via Belavia Airlines. Upon arriving in Warsaw, the group settled in the hotel and did a little sightseeing of Warsaw. They took a walk through the remaining parts of the Warsaw Ghetto.

For the majority of the evening, everyone walked around the reconstructed Old Warsaw, enjoying the last evening. The group had the final banquet sitting outside in one of the squares. Upon final reflection, the group found the whole experience to be an amazing, life-changing, eye-opening experience that everyone would remember for years to come. Hopefully, many others will be able to build on this trip and lead similar trips in the future.
