Programs

The AOD Education office conducts multiple programs to implement these goals. Among these are the Drug and Alcohol Peer Advisors (DAPA) a peer resource for information, the TRAC I program: a workshop on how personality drives behavior and choices regarding drugs and alcohol, the TRAC II alcohol education class for students showing signs of risky behavior, TRAC III for marijuana use, Social Event Management Procedures (SEMP) Training sessions for organizations sponsoring events at which alcohol is present, various other campus outreach and educational programs, and the Social Norms Campaign. The AOD office also publishes the Dartmouth College Alcohol Handbook (Download PDF), a comprehensive resource for alcohol use on the Dartmouth campus with resources and information well beyond the Dartmouth community. The handbook is now available in PDF format and a paper copy may be acquired from the AOD office as well.

Talking about low-Risk Alcohol Consumption (TRAC) I

Are you a circle, squiggle, square, or triangle? This highly interactive leadership development exercise examines how personality drives behavior. Based upon the rich traditions of the Native American medicine wheel and rooted in the philosophical underpinnings of personality and behavioral psychology, this teambuilding workshop focuses on healthy decision-making and social choices around alcohol and other drug use. Students are encouraged to explore their personality preferences and behavioral characteristics in the context of a college environment where students encounter various cultural influences around substance use/abuse.

Estimated duration of program: 2 hours.

Talking about low-Risk Alcohol Consumption (TRAC) II

An informative and fact-based multimedia presentation on alcohol and other drugs that seeks to dispel common myths and misperceptions about various substances, including frequently used rape drugs. Strong emphasis is placed upon physiology. Follow-up discussion includes Alcoholism: Phases of Progression and case studies.

Talking about Risks Associated with Cannabis use (TRAC) III

An in-depth, research-based PowerPoint presentation on the dangers of marijuana use. Specifically designed for students who are "experimenting" with or thinking about using this drug, TRAC III offers the plain facts about pot and why it is such a highly addictive substance.

Estimated duration of program: 90 minutes.
