Dr. Mark Reed, M.D.

I am thrilled to be on the Health Resources staff where I get to work with very talented, dedicated professionals on issues that are very important to me. In many ways I think it is the defining office of a College Health Service. We have the opportunity to do important education, outreach, and training work which promote positive health related decision making by students. Most satisfying, is working with groups of students who in a relatively short period of time can make a significant impact on improving campus culture around a specific health issue.

I have been on the Health Resources staff since the fall of 2002 and have worked at the Health Service since 1991 where I also serve as Director of the Counseling Office. The Health Resources and Counseling Offices have a long history of working closely together on outreach, training, and groups. Some of the things that are most important to me in my work are prevention, access to care, and decreasing stigma.

I am trained as a psychiatrist and graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1987 and completed my residency training in psychiatry at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in 1991. Prior to joining the Health Resources staff, the pleasure and challenge I get from teaching was filled from serving as Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry for Dartmouth Medical School from 1995-2002. I currently serve as the chair of Dartmouth Medical School's Committee for Students with Disabilities.

For fun, I enjoy spending time with my family (Laurie, Molly, and Max) outdoors. We hike in the summer and fall and snowshoe in the winter. Molly, Max, and I have started to learn how to play guitar which has provided us with plenty of laughs.

Please feel free to contact me or any of our staff with questions or ideas for promoting student health. I look forward to working with you.
