First-Aid for Work-related Injuries

The Workers' Compensation Program at Dartmouth College sponsors first-aid treatment at Dick's House for faculty and staff with work-related injuries. Not all injuries which occur on campus are considered work-related. An injury must occur "in the course and scope of an individual's employment" to be considered eligible for this program. Eligibility is determined by the Office of Business Affairs and the Workers' Compensation insurance carrier.

If you have a work-related injury to be treated at the First-Aid Clinic, call the Health Service Appointment Office at 646-9401. On-campus transportation to Dick's House is available from Safety & Security (646-4000).

Work-related injury should be reported immediately to the injured person's supervisor and to the Office of Business Affairs. Report forms are available from Business Affairs and must be returned to them at HB 6012 within 72 hours of the injury. Report forms include:

  • Form 8aWCA, Employer's First Report to be completed by the injured employee;
  • Form 8-WC, Employer's First Report of Injury or Occupational Disease (required by the NH Department of Labor); and
  • Supervisor's Accident Investigation Report.

Submit any medical expenses relating to work-related injuries to the Office of Business Affairs (646-2441) or Liberty Mutual, the workers' compensation insurance carrier (1-800-562-3936).
